All students on the journalism courses at Winchester have the opportunity to specialise in sports journalism after completing basic training as a news reporter or production journalist. We do not offer a separate qualification in sports journalism because, after consulting the industry, we believe sports journalism employers are looking for broadly educated journalists who have all the key skills such as shorthand a good knowledge of media law and the ability and track record of producing general news and feature stories. Thus you will graduate from a BJTC (Broadcast Journalism Training Council) at either BA or MA level as a rounded and highly employable and confident journalist with a specialism in sports journalism and an unbeatable track record of producing sports reports and features week in and week out.. The course has exceptionally close links with industry and employers and a range of work attachment opportunities are available to students. More about work attachment and employability in sports journalism. |
