Totton Football Club was formed in 1886 and was one of the founder members of the Hampshire F.A. when it was inaugurated. It was also one of the founder members of the New Forest League, formed in 1904.
After the First World War they entered the Southampton Senior League and the New Forest League. Then in the 1920/21 season, they joined the Hampshire League West.
Totton's first ever season at level 4 of the non-league pyramid (2008/9) saw the club make massive strides. Success in the cup ties made for a hectic fixture schedule the first few months of the season. The Stags enjoyed fine runs in the FA Trophy and FA Cup, in which they reached the Fourth Qualifying Round for only the second time in their history.
But promotion remained the main objective and they responded by staying in the top five throughout the entire season. They finished third to secure a play-off spot.
After beating Beaconsfied Sycob 2-1 in the play-off semi-final, The Stags fell at the last hurdle losing 2-1 to Didcot Town in front of a crowd of over 1,100 at Testwood Park.
Despite the bitter disappointment of the previous campaign, the club entered the 2009/10 campaign in tremendous spirit. They are well on the way to promotion to the Zamaretto Premier Division, currently lying second behind Windsor & Eton.
